We offer a wide range of touchpoints for career development opportunities both online and in-person. Students and alumni can schedule one-on-one appointments with our career strategists to help you plan your next career move, polish your résumé, and prepare you for your job search. A career strategist can work with you to develop your career and job/internship search strategies, develop life and business plans, as well as review résumés, cover letters, websites and other marketing materials.

To schedule an appointment, log into Student.PrattPro.com. Click the Appointment Calendar tab, then Counseling Appointment to request the time and type of appointment you want.

Most advising appointments take place in our main office on the Brooklyn campus or the Manhattan campus. Those living outside the NYC metro area, can request a virtual meeting when making the appointment. All advising appointments are made through Pratt Pro.

Career Exploration

This meeting can help you figure out where to go, what to study, why it matters and to see how your student employment or volunteer positions can become a career opportunity.

Career Transitions

For alumni and graduate students interested in making a change in their career path. An advisor will help you strategize your current experiences in order to align your skills and share resources on how to gain new skills as you transition into your new industry or role.

Life Coaching 

A series of sessions with a certified Life Coach. Through regularly scheduled meetings with the coach explore your values, goals and identify what is holding you back from creating the life you truly want to live. Coaching sessions vary from half hour to one hour and the duration of a series depends on the needs of the individual.

MBTI Assessments

The MBTI is a well-tested, time proven, culturally sensitive, personality inventory whose main function is to promote self-awareness in both self and toward others.

Strong Interest (Personality & Career) Assessments

An assessment that helps match interests with potential educational, career, and leisure activities, using preferences in a variety of areas to aid in discovering what you’d most enjoy doing with your work and future career.

Career Strategy for Undergraduate Students

Clarify what types of jobs you are seeking, what tools and resources to utilize, how to network appropriately. This session will assist you in taking the steps to pick pathways and begin your career.

Career Strategy for Graduate Students and Alumni

Clarify what types of jobs you are seeking, what tools and resources to utilize, how to network appropriately. This strategy session is akin to a consulting appointment for exploring your career search with full effort. Expect to be assigned tasks such as informational interviewing, rewriting your cover letter, or exploring related fields.

CPT/OPT Advising (International Students)

Advising for Curricular Practical Training provides students with information, resources and the official requirements directly from the Office of International Affairs.

Internship Advising 

Internships are a great way to gain experience, network and explore your career options. Internship advising covers how to find internship opportunities to help build towards your future career as well as compiling your documents to apply.

Never made a résumé? Still using a one from high school? Don’t have a lot of work experience? This is the appointment for you. Learn about what you should include on your résumé as well as basic structure.

We will discuss the types of projects necessary to tell your story as an emerging creative professional. Working portfolios can be different than internship portfolios and understanding these differences will help direct your message accurately.

Specifically for alumni and graduating students, we will provide feedback on the work as presented. Reviews are designed to give you a fair appraisal of your work while offering solutions and tips for improving content, narrative, or presentation. Portfolio reviews can take place at any time throughout your career.

Interview Preparation

Improve your interviewing confidence and ability to make a positive impression with an employer. We’ll talk to you about common questions and help you discover how to best tell your story. If possible, please provide a description of the job you’re interviewing for to help direct the preparation.

Fulbright, Grants, and Residencies 

Applying for a Fulbright, grant, or residency can be a lengthy process. Our advisors will work with you to aid in finding opportunities, preparing project statements, and support you through the application process.
