Adjunct Associate Professor
An artist, trained filmmaker and reformed commercial photographer, Ernst has shot international advertising campaigns for brands including VW, American Express, Land Rover, Volvo, O2, Renault, and Ford, and published extensively in the editorial space. His art involves video, installation, sculpture, and writing and centrally, photography of both the proper and subverted kind.
Exhibitions include The Photographer’s Gallery (London), Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Cue Foundation (NY), Malraux’s Place (Brooklyn), 247365 (Brooklyn), Wake (Detroit), White Flag Projects (St Loius), Brett Wesley Gallery (Las Vegas), Liangzhou Photo Festival, Lodz Photo Festival, Fotografie Forum Frankfurt; publications include Artforum, Frieze, The Guardian, Colors, Dazed and Confused, Creative Review, The British Journal of Photography, Rhizome.org, I-D, AnOther Man, Condé Nast Traveller and Rethinking Marxism.
Ernst also teaches Photography for Architects at Pratt School of Architecture, and has recently begun to shoot commissions for architects.
