President Bronet and Professor Ron Shiffman Named to “Brooklyn Power 50” List of Key Leaders
President Frances Bronet and Ron Shiffman, Professor Emeritus in Pratt’s Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment and co-founder of the Pratt Center for Community Development, were recently recognized in City & State ’s “Brooklyn Power 50” list, which celebrates the academic, business, civic, and cultural leaders shaping Brooklyn’s future.
The “Brooklyn Power 50” were honored at a special City & State reception held at the New York Marriott in downtown Brooklyn on August 2. President Bronet and Shiffman attended the event, which featured opening remarks from Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, who mentioned that he had met with President Bronet that morning.
The “Brooklyn Power 50” listing highlighted the “executive experience as well as architecture and engineering expertise” that President Bronet brings to her role as president of Pratt, and remarked on the Institute’s “strong faculty.” Shiffman was noted for his decades-long experience as co-founder of the Pratt Center and as a former city Planning Commission member who “has urged planners to make neighborhoods more livable.”
