THE ECSTASY OF FORBIDDEN DAYLIGHT
Alexis Karl

The Ecstasy of Forbidden Daylight explores the pull of magic lifting the veil between our world and the spirit realm. Oracles harness elements of the earth to do their magic. Borrowing from death to bring new life, they are archetypal and goddess-like in their power.

Obsidian laden scrying bowls and a black quartz pendulum reveals the future, and calls forth spirits. Ritual bowls bind animal familiars and secure love spells. Ancient witch bottles bind malevolent spirits. All the work is bound in ritual, embracing this mortal coil while reaching into the realm beyond. The ecstasy of forbidden daylight is a celebration of magic, daring to reinterpret folkloric magical practices; bringing into light what has for centuries been hidden.

Exhibition Schedule: Thursday, October 12–Sunday, November 12
