In light of the Coronavirus Pandemic and to support the reopening of our campuses, all members of the campus community who are returning to either campus for the 2020-21 academic year will need to take extraordinary steps to stay well and persistently protect each other on campus and in the community. We are asking each member of our community to pledge to be accountable by signing a social contract agreeing to abide by requirements and expectations that will contribute significantly toward reducing the spread of COVID-19.  

The standards below are a temporary addition to the published community standards found in the Student Handbook. They are designed to provide the safest learning environment possible and are reliant on each member of the community to uphold them not only for their safety but the safety of others.  Students who jeopardize the safety of others and/or fail to meet the standards may be removed from the residence halls/Institute.

This contract has been sent to every student for their electronic signature. Staff and faculty members will be required to sign a similar contract. We are all in this together!

All Students:

 

HEALTH MONITORING AND TESTING 

I agree to the following:

  • To observe all daily self-assessment, temperature screening,and reporting of symptoms and COVID-19 diagnostic testing as required

  • Not to attend class or campus functions if I am ill

  • If I test positive for COVID-19  I will notify Health Services  immediately and follow their guidance to  leave campus. I will only return to the campus  if/when I am medically cleared.

  • If I am living in a location which requires quarantine upon entering New York state, I confirm that I have quarantined inside of New York state for 14 days before attending class.

  • I have watched the Student Community COVID-19 Prevention Training video

FACE COVERINGS AND PERSONAL HYGIENE 

I agree to the following:

  • To wear an appropriate face covering or mask, which covers the nose and mouth  at all times while on campus, 

  • To pay close attention to personal hygiene including  frequent handwashing with soap and water and/or to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Avoid sharing personal items such as phones, or assigned studio/lab items when possible.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: MAINTAINING 6 FT OF DISTANCE FROM OTHERS

I agree to the following:

  • To maintain appropriate social distance from others in any location on campus. 

  • To abide by all posted signage indicating reduced elevator occupancy as well as adhering to stairwell directional signs indicating up or down direction of travel;  To give priority for elevator usage to individuals with special access needs .

  • Stairwells are to be used when able, especially on lower floors except in case of emergency when all stairwells become emergency exit paths; To give priority for elevator usage to individuals with special access needs .

  • Not to use the lobby of any building as a gathering space  

  • To observe appropriate social distancing when swiping/scanning into a building/space or waiting for an elevator

VISITATION AND GUESTS

I agree to and understand the following:

  • To the extent possible, minimize visitors to campus.  

  • I  will advise outside guests of the health monitoring protocols in place and of their required participation to obtain access to campus.
