Physical (Social) Distancing

Pratt Institute has established physical distancing protocols and is placing appropriate signage to encourage students, faculty, and staff to follow physical distancing guidance while on campus.  Physical distancing is designed to reduce overall capacity in spaces by utilizing local and national guidance for all areas such as classrooms, labs, shops, studios, clinics, dining venues, residence halls, offices, elevators, etc.

  • All community members should attempt to maintain a minimum six feet of distance from the nearest person as a normal practice

  • Decrease in-person contact by utilizing phone conference or video conferencing instead of in-person meetings. If small in-person gatherings or meetings are necessary, all attendees should wear masks, maintain physical distancing, and follow occupancy guidelines.

  • Discourage physical contact with others, such as handshakes, hugs, embracing, etc.

  • Where safe distancing cannot be maintained due to the design of the workplace, arrange work environment to achieve separation. Consult with the Facilities Department to install physical barriers, both fixed and portable, to avoid face-to-face alignment through body orientation
