Winter Break Access

Access to campus will be restricted to essential staff during the winter break from December 24, 2020 through January 4, 2021. If you need to be on campus during this period, your supervisor must make arrangements in advance with Public Safety (  Please plan accordingly and retrieve any needed materials by December 23. Appropriate planning will minimize the number of non-essential staff on campus during the break and the amount of cleaning and disinfecting that our essential facilities staff will be required to perform.

Policy Statement and Purpose

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, changes to normal campus access have been instituted to ensure the safety of the campus community and to comply with state and local guidelines. Until further notice, Pratt’s Brooklyn and Manhattan are open and accessible only to current registered students, faculty, and staff.

Policy Guidelines – Access

Brooklyn Campus

  • The 200 Willoughby Avenue Main Gate entrance is the sole entry point to access the main campus. All other gates and turnstiles providing access to the main campus will remain closed for campus entry. ALL turnstiles are however available for exit. Please note access to Higgins and Myrtle Halls are available at designated building entry points. 

Manhattan Campus

  • The main entrance located at 144 West 14th Street remains the sole entry point to the building/campus. 

All students, faculty and staff entering either campus must produce a valid Pratt ID card or digital ID, submit to a temperature screening and complete the PrattSafe App Daily Health Questionnaire. Hours of Operation - When In-Person Classes Are In Session

Faculty, staff and registered students will have access to property under the control of Pratt Institute between the hours of 7am and Midnight, 7 Days a week. All persons with the exception of essential staff must vacate the campus grounds and buildings by midnight unless other arrangements have been made in advance with Public Safety.

Hours of Operation - When Classes Are Not In Session

November 25, 2020, through Friday, January 15, 2021, Pratt’s Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses will be open seven (7) days per week from 8 AM to 6 PM for faculty and staff. Campus will be closed to students, however, student workers will continue to have access during scheduled work hours only.

Students are not permitted access to campus during this time unless to meet with a faculty or staff member. These requests must be emailed from the faculty/staff member to and include the necessary details for the visit, including date, time, location, and purpose.

During this time, all community members will continue to complete the daily health screening questionnaire via the Pratt Safe app, wear a face covering, submit to temperature screening, and follow physical distancing requirements as outlined in the campus access checklist

Swipe card access to Pratt at the Pfizer Building will be disabled after midnight.

Visitors/Guests/Alumni/Independent Contractors – Campus Access

Visitor access to campus is strictly limited to reduce exposure and the potential spread of COVID-19. Visitors on campus should be limited to the hours of 7am-Midnight, 7 days a week. The visitor must be pre-approved by the Department of Public Safety before coming to either campus.

Faculty and Staff requesting access for guests, visitors, alumni, independent contractors and models to participate in classroom instruction involving student and/or faculty interaction such as; lectures, installing projects, film/photo shoots, repair or service equipment, etc., are welcomed on campus after submitting Pratt Institute’s COVID-19 Acknowledgement for Visitors/Guests/Alumni/Independent Contractors form and undergoing a COVID-19 diagnostic test. The COVID-19 test has to be taken and the negative test result received within seven days prior to entering Pratt Institute’s property. The COVID-19 acknowledgement form and negative test result must be submitted to the Department of Public Safety at no later than 24 hours prior to the individual entering campus.

The email to Public Safety should also contain the following information:

  • Requestor's Name, title, phone number, and email address

  • Visitors Name and contact phone number

  • Date/Time and location of visit

  • Duration of visit

  • Indicate If visitor will be requesting campus parking (Brooklyn Only)

Contractors/Vendors/Subcontractors – Campus Access

Contractors, vendors and subcontractors providing in person services at either campus not involving student and/or faculty interaction, are required to submit Pratt Institute’s COVID-19 Acknowledgement for Vendors on Campus form and company’s COVID-19 safety protocols/procedures to the  Department of Legal Counsel at no later than 24 hours prior to entering campus.

Faculty and Staff requesting contract or vendor services are required to notify the Department of Public Safety at no later than 24 hours prior to the contractor or vendor company entering campus.

The email to Public Safety should contain the following information:

  • Requestor's Name, title, phone number, and email address

  • Company’s Name

  • Date/Time and location of scheduled work or service

  • Duration of work

  • Indicate If campus parking will be required (Brooklyn Only)

Visitors, guests, alumni, contractors, and vendors will be required to submit to a temperature screening, verbal health screening questionnaire and must have a valid form of photo identification upon arrival.

Until further notice, students are not allowed to have visitors/guests on campus.
