FASD-357: Artisans, Designers, Textiles (Fall 2023)

Apply to enroll in FASD-357, a 3-credit fashion elective course starting with mandatory remote lectures Fridays from 1:30pm-3:00pm and a required one-week excursion to Oaxaca, Mexico during the week of November 18, 2023.

This course (FASD-357: Artisans, Designers, Textiles) allows students the opportunity to investigate the supply chain first-hand and understand the impact of the designer’s sourcing decisions on global economies and artisan communities. Onsite experiential learning in this culturally rich and diverse region provides an opportunity for students to visit and engage with artisan communities and learn traditional textile processes.

  • FASD-357: Artisans, Designers, Textiles is a semester-long, 3-credit fashion elective course which includes travel to Oaxaca, Mexico from November 18-25, 2023.
  • Oaxaca Study Excursion Activities include: Museo Textil De Oaxaca, Textile Weaving Workshop, Natural Dye Workshops Cochineal, Belber Museum, Pottery Class, Embroidery Workshop, Cooking Class, Visit To Ruins.
