BOILING POINT is the fifth installment of the Pratt Institute Fine Arts department's curated off campus graduate exhibition. The students’ work represents a range of media from painting, installation, performance, and sculpture. Artists leaving graduate school are in their own particular moment of transition, as they will soon disperse from one dense social body into a wider frame of relations and activity. The work that was once was considered "in-process" are soon to be considered "cooked," so to speak, in the eyes of the art world beyond the university. But these are misguided presumptions we are often too quick to apply to graduate students. If we are to really consider the metaphor of turning from liquid to vapor in the case of artists leaving a graduate program, it should only be in order to anticipate, excitedly, the release of their work into the ether of related discussions and concerns circling a wider more, expansive contemporary art world now within their reach.  —Regine Basha

The Pratt Artist’s League (PAL) is a group of Pratt graduate students in the Department of Fine Arts joining together to improve the social and professional lives of all artists in the Pratt community. PAL organizes open studios events, studio visits with guest artists and critics, and group exhibitions both on and off campus. The goal of PAL programming is to strengthen the Pratt community, empower students to seek and secure greater educational and professional opportunities, and raise the public profile of the Pratt MFA program. Membership is available to all Pratt Graduate students in the Department of Fine Arts without exception or requirement, financial or otherwise.
