OPT Reporting

OPT Reporting for Pre-Completion OPT and Post-Completion OPT

You are required to report changes or interruptions in employment (within 10 days) during all periods of Pre-Completion or Post-Completion OPT to OIA. This information should be provided to us via email at oia@pratt.edu.

Once you have received your EAD Card (Employment Authorization Document) from USCIS, you must send an email with a clear picture of the front and back of the card to the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Please send these images, along with your name and ID number to oia@pratt.edu.

To report your employment to OIA, please either provide all the details below in your email or complete the OPT Employer Reporting Information Form in the Resources section at the bottom of the page and email it to OIA:

  1. The name of Company

  4. Address of Company and the zip code
  5. Your local address in United States
  6. Your phone number
  7. Your Pratt ID number

When your current employment ends, please email OIA with the following information:

  2. End date in the position
  3. Your Pratt ID number

OPT Reporting for STEM OPT

STEM OPT has additional reporting requirements beyond those for Pre-Completion or Post-Completion OPT. These include:

  • Reporting receipt of your EAD Card (Employment Authorization Document): you must send an email with a clear picture of the front and back of the card to the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Please send these images, along with your name and ID number to oia@pratt.edu.
  • Report information to DSO within 10 days of the reporting date every six months. As part of this reporting, you must confirm your legal name, residential or mailing address, employer name and address, and the status of your current employment.
  • Report any material changes to or deviations from an existing Form I-983 to OIA.
  • Report a change of your legal name, residential or mailing address, employer name or address, and/or loss of employment to OIA within 10 days.
  • You must submit to OIA an annual self-evaluation about the progress of the training experience. The documentation you must submit is a part of your Form I-983. You and your employer must sign your self-evaluation before submitting it to OIA, and we must include it in your record.
  • When you change employers, the new employer must be enrolled in E-Verify before you can begin to work for pay. You also must submit a new Form I-983 to OIA within 10 days of starting your new practical training opportunity.

All reporting to OIA can be completed via email sent to oia@pratt.edu – you are not required to come in to report your information.
