Alerts will be posted as needed to inform the Pratt community of general safety and security concerns.
Emergency Notifications
Emergency Notifications will apply to hazards, crimes, terrorist attack, natural disaster, environemntal incidents, and other emergencies that occur on-campus. The notification will be posted on this site and will sent to via email and text messaging to all Pratt Institute members that are signed-up with the Pratt Emergency Alert Text Messaging System.
Timely Warnings
Timely Warnings will be issued when it is determined by the Institution that there is a signifacant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees ocuring on campus and in the immediate community.
TIMELY WARNING NOTICE
To: Pratt Institute Students, Faculty, and Staff Members

Re: Timely Warning Notice of a reported robbery that occurred on Willoughby Avenue and Steuben St., in which four students were approach by three males described as teenager (see description below). One of the students' I-Phone and I.D card was stolen. All four victims were Pratt students.
Date: August 24, 2011
In compliance with the timely warning notice provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Act, the Pratt Institute Department of Safety and Security is informing the members of the campus community about three recent reports of robbery or attempted robberies at the above mentioned locations.
On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at approximately 10:15 PM four students were walking west on Willoughby Ave. at Steuben St. when three male blacks approached them, displayed what was believed to be a gun and robbed one of the students of his I-Phone and his Pratt I.D. Card. The three suspects then ran east on Willoughby Ave. The three males were described as being 5'9" tall all wearing dark colored baggy pants.
Campus members are strongly urged to be especially vigilant when traveling about the campus and community after dark and to be aware of their surroundings. Keep valuables including cell phones and I-phones out of sight and carry only what is necessary. Try to avoid anyone who looks suspicious. If you see someone that appears suspicious when off campus call the NYPD by dialing 911, and when on campus, call the Pratt Institute Department of Safety and Security at (718)-636-3540.
If you have any information that might be helpful in this investigation, or have been a victim please report it immediately to the NYPD and the Pratt Institute Department of Safety and Security at (718)-636-3540 or at the Main Security Booth in person.
