Assignment Packet
Once students have been assigned, we will send out specific housing assignments and roommate information via your pratt.edu email in early July for Fall semester applications and early December for Spring semester applications. Below are important dates and other useful information to help you to begin planning for your transition to campus.
If you have not received your room assignment/roommate information in the timeframes listed above, contact us at reslife@pratt.edu.
Check In Fall 2012
All students check in to their assigned buildings on the scheduled check in dates.
Check in for all new international students is Sunday, August 19, 2012, starting at 9 am. Any student not arriving on that day must contact the Office of Residential Life and Housing stating the date they will arrive.
Check in for all new domestic students is Tuesday, August 21, 2012, starting at 9 am. Any student not arriving on that day must contact the Office of Residential Life and Housing stating the date they will arrive.
Continuing Students who did not live on-campus during the last week of Summer may check-in Friday and Saturday, August 24 & 25, 2012, beginning at 9 am.
Early arrivals cannot be accommodated prior to August 19, 2012. We cannot guarantee that a student's room will be ready for an early arrival. An early arrival fee of $50 per day will be assessed to the student's account for any early arrivals that can be accommodated. It is strongly recommended that students arrive no earlier than the scheduled check-in day. If no other choice exists but to arrive early, contact reslife@pratt.edu to inquire about your arrival date and time. Early check-ins must report to Residential Life and Housing, room 105 of Willoughby Hall between 9 am and 4 pm. Early check-ins after 5 pm must report to the student's assigned building. Early arrival students who do not contact reslife@pratt.edu will need to wait until 5 pm to check in.
Late Arrivals, students who will arrive after scheduled check in dates, should contact reslife@pratt.edu to inform of their arrival date and time. Failure to do so may result in your being reported as a 'No Show' and cancellation of your room assignment. Late arrivals will be accommodated on non-check in days between 9-4 in Residential Life and Housing, room 105 Willoughby Hall and after 5 pm in their assigned residence hall.
Mail and Packages
Students living on campus will be assigned individual campus mailboxes centrally located in our Mail Center. Included in your assignment email will be specific instructions on the proper format to use for your mail and packages. Students should provide this information to family members and others so that mail and packages are routed correctly. More information can be found on the Mail Center's webpages.
Theft and Fire Insurance
It is strongly recommended that all resident students have insurance coverage for their possessions. Pratt has made available to students and their families information from a leading residence hall student insurance carrier, National Student Services. They have a proven track record of providing quality, low cost individual coverage to students. Whether or not a student is covered under their parents homeowners policy, it is wise to keep an individual policy to cover things like: personal computers, stereos, televisions, clothing, books, cameras or any other valuables students keep in their room. Pratt does not carry individual insurance coverage for each students possession and in the unlikely event of theft, fire, flood or other accident, it is necessary that students are covered.
Coverages range in price from $26 per year for $2000 coverage and a $100 deductible for actual cash value premiums to $220 per year for $10,000 coverage and a $25 deductible for replacement cost premiums. For more information and to sign-up on-line or call National Student Services at 800-256-6774.
