Pratt Institute

Program Board

Program Board (PB) is a branch of Student Involvement consisting of seven programming areas: Entertainment, Cultural Events, Concerts, Travel and Recreation, Special Events, Promotions, and PMC Event Coordination. All members of Program Board are Pratt students, working hard to plan events other Pratt students will be interested in. Part of the mandatory Student Activities fee you pay each year goes to Program Board to cover the events we bring to the campus community.

All of the entertainment provided by PB comes to your doorstep: comedy, movies, bands, parties, special trips - and it's all FREE!

The activities we provide are a great way to unwind with friends without even having to leave campus. (A lot of our events are so good, they even draw people from outside Pratt!) If you need a homework break or just trying to make plans for the weekend or weeknight, Program Board activities are a great way to have fun here on campus.

You’ll get to hang out with other Pratt students and enjoy cool stuff without having to go all the way into the city, plan everything in advance, or spend a cent. You will probably never get this much free entertainment in your life, so take advantage of it while you can!

Concerts: Pratt Concerts puts on a wide variety of shows to appeal to different students' tastes. The concerts range from pop bands to hardcore, swing, etc. Concerts can take place either on or off campus for free or a minimal charge. Past trips have included Matisyahu, JUSTICE, Regina Spektor, and the NYC Philharmonic. On-campus concerts have included Buffalo Eskimo, Origin Blue, Ark Reggae Band, and Ben Kweller.

Cultural Events: Cultural Events bring together interesting events and performances to enhance the cultural spirit at Pratt, including lectures to musical performers, to special presentations. Cultural Events is also in charge of the annual Healthy Love Week - a week in February devoted to safe sex, healthy relationships, and learning about STDs and other diseases. Previous trips have included the United Nations and National Museum of the American Indian. Don't forget Pratt culture and our annual viewing of Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Entertainment: Entertainment brings a variety of activities to campus for students to enjoy. Showing recent movie releases to you for FREE! Instead of paying $12 in the city, come to the Student Union every other Thursday at 7:30pm for free food and a free show. Come see blockbuster movies, including Kick Ass, Toy Story 3, and Alice in Wonderland – all for free! Comedians and other live performers--most whom make regular appearances at comedy clubs around the city, and many whom have had spots on The Tonight Show, Dave Letterman, Def Comedy Jam, and Comedy Central-- also visit Pratt to give provide students a entertaining evening.

Special Events: Like Entertainment Special Events caters to a multitude of student activities and interests. Hypnotists, magicians, NYC tours, and laser tag are just a few areas students can participate in. Past events have included ghost hunts, open mic nights, and mystic events.

Promotions: Promotions is mainly responsible for making sure everyone knows about upcoming events and what Program Board provides to the campus community. If you would like more information about anything going on or if you have a suggestion, please feel free to call or e-mail us.

Travel and Recreation: Travel & Recreation provides Pratt students with opportunities to go off campus and participate in activities for free or a minimal fee. Travel & Recreation offers trips to see Broadway shows, museums, and go on unique "food tours," where students are introduced to restaurants in and around the city to taste some one of a kind meals. Past trips have included Broadway shows to American Idiot, Hair, Next to Normal, and Wicked. Other trips included a Chelsea food tour, NYC Opera, and Medieval Times.

PMC Event Coordinator: Pratt Manhattan students can now participate in an array of activities outside of the classroom. Our PMC Event Coordinators will be working to create memorable programming, exclusively for Pratt Manhattan students.
