For Students Graduating in 2012 or 2013

The 2013 Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for May 14th, 2013 at Radio City Music Hall. Invitations to the Ceremony have been mailed to participants' LOCAL addresses.

Pratt officially awards degrees at the end of summer terms on October 1st, fall terms on February 1st and spring terms on June 1st. A student that has completed all requirements for a degree will not officially be graduated until one of these three dates. See the Registrar's Graduation page for more information on the process.

Students that have applied and been approved to graduate on October 1, 2012 or February 1, 2013 or June 1, 2013 will be mailed an invitation to the Commencement Ceremony in April, 2013. Tickets must be picked up at the 2013 Graduation Fair.

To graduate with honors and wear a silver cord at the Ceremony, Associate and Baccalaureate degree recipients must have earned a final cumulative GPA no lower than 3.5 in all work. A minimum final cumulative GPA of 3.75 is required for graduation with highest honors.

To graduate with distinction and wear a silver cord at the Ceremony, Graduate degree recipients must have earned a final cumulative GPA no lower than 3.85 in all work.

Academic Attire (Caps & Gowns) UPDATE: Dates for ordering regalia have changed. Late fees now apply for orders made for on-campus pick-up between March 20 and March 29.

Academic Attire is required to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Graduates must be wearing their regalia to enter Radio City Music Hall.

Cap and Gown ordering is currently open.

Regalia can be purchased in Brooklyn at the PrattStore from December 12, 2012 to March 13, 2013, during PrattStore Hours. All PrattStore purchases are for campus pick-up only. There is no home delivery available for orders made at the PrattStore.

Home delivery is available for online orders made until April 1, 2013. Students may request that Herff Jones ship their cap and gown to their home addresses for an additional fee of $15.95. No late fees apply for any home shipping orders. All deliveries will be via FedEx Smart Post (P.O. boxes and street address okay). Picking Up Regalia

Students who order online by April 1st, 2013 at https://collegegrad.herffjones.com/ may request that Herff Jones ship the cap and gown to their home for an additional fee of $15.95. All deliveries will be via FedEx Smart Post (P.O. Boxes and street address okay). All caps and gowns ordered before March 29, 2013 for campus pick-up will be available at the Graduation Fairs in both Brooklyn AND Manhattan .

Photography

Island Photography is the official photographer for the Pratt Commencement Ceremony. Graduates will be able to schedule an appointment for their graduation portrait with Island Photo through their website in January 2013.

Portrait sittings will be during the Graduation Fair. All dates and times are tentative.

Manhattan Campus:
Tuesday April 23. 10am - 7pm, Second Floor

Brooklyn Campus:
Friday April 26. 10am - 7pm, Student Union
Saturday April 27. 10am - 5pm, Student Union

Radio City will only allow pictures to be taken from guest seats. Island Photography will take two types of photographs at the ceremony—first of the graduate on stage, and second a candid picture of the graduate shaking hands with President Thomas Schutte.

Special Circumstances for Other 2013 Graduates

The deadline for Permission to Walk in the May 2013 Commencement Ceremony is March 1st, 2013. Students finishing their degree requirements in Summer or Fall 2013 must walk in the May 2014 Commencement Ceremony.

Those students that have 12 credits or less remaining at the end of Spring Term 2013 and want to attend the 2013 Commencement Ceremony must complete a "Permission to Walk" form in the Registrar's Office. If the request is granted you will receive an email confirmation and an invitation to Commencement. Students who completed a Permission to Walk form and have been granted permission to participate in the Commencement Ceremony in May 2013 will not have their names printed in the program. Their names will appear in the 2014 Commencement Ceremony program.

International students who need to attend the 2013 Commencement Ceremony because they will not be in the country in May 2014 also must complete a Permission to Walk form in the Registrar's Office. If the request is granted you will receive an email confirmation and an invitation to Commencement.

Permission will be granted based on space availability.
