Sophie Kahn, Visiting Instructor in Digital Arts at Pratt, recently showed a laser-sintered nylon sculpture in the Last Supper Festival’s New Media exhibition at 3rd Ward in Brooklyn. Digital Arts Professor Liubo Borrisov's work was also included in this exhibition.
In collaboration with choreographer Lisa Parra, Kahn is currently exhibiting a laser-etched crystal sculpture in the "Process Boxes" show at EMPAC, the Experimental Media & Performing Arts Center at RPI in Troy, as part of the Filament festival.
Kahn currently holds an Open Studio Residency at the Museum of Arts & Design at Columbus Circle. The studios on the 6th floor of the museum are open to the public, so it is possible to visit Kahn as she creates 3d beaded reconstructions of point cloud data from the Building Rome In A Day project. Visit www.sophiekahn.net to view documentation of her residency project work, which will continue through early December.
