with Fred Blumlein

In the fall of 2010, the ID graduate students who attended the exhibition design class conducted by Professor Fred Blumlein were given the assignment to design new retail environmental concepts and products for Simon Pearce, a glass and ceramics manufacturer in Winsor, Vermont. James Murray, Director of Design at Simon Pearce, was actively involved in the progression of the work. The project involved the design of: product display fixtures, bridal registry concepts, in-store graphics, lighting fixtures, textiles, brand identity, packaging and collateral-print materials. A major focus of this project was to incorporate into these efforts as many sustainable materials and practices as possible. The resulting designs have inspired the Simon Pearce Company to incorporate many of the students’ concepts into their upcoming retail installations.

Participating members of the class were: Kat Coburn, Heidy Garay, Mike Jozewicz, Sushir Kadidal, David Kim, Sierra Seip, Mike Seto, Alison Uljee, Sarah von der Luft, and Hanjiang Yao.
