Pratt Institute

Open Mic Night - 8pm Thursday April 5th

Thursday, Mar 22, 2012 @ 5:17 pm

For those of you who missed the last campus wide Open Mic program, FINDINGMYVOICE@PRATT you've all got one more chance this semester to come out, join the fun, and support ID's effort to unite us all in one space.

Our last event is on, Thursday APRIL 5th, 8pm-9:30.

This weeks program was an outstanding success.  With 60 audience members and 13 great acts. It was amazing!

90% of the participants are PRATT students, but we also had a handful of staff members and faculty come out from the various departments.

Because of the programs interdisciplinary structure, the students are able to participate, voluntarily, in a variety of roles provided by the program before and during the show:
Documentation: via photography & film making,
PR: via graphic design,
Stage Decoration: via fine arts,ID, architecture and interiors
and of course original and talented Pratt performers of every kind... from performance art, spoken word, slam poetry, rap, comedy, and original music. (the possibilities are endless)

(We have a Huge white wall back drop in the Student Union, approx. 40'L x 12'H that we have used to display large scale paintings from Fine Arts.  For our last show I would love to work with some Fine Art faculty members, giving your students work some exposure and cover the wall entirely with large scale paintings.   We produce a minimum of one youtube video Posting per semester, crediting all the participants/volunteers which is usually incentive enough for the students to participate. Please reach out to me if you are interested in having your students work exhibited and documented for one evening)

FindingMyVoice@Pratt aspires to be a program designed, documented, advertised and performed entirely by Pratt STUDENTS, STAFF, and FACULTY.
A venue that encourages all the disciplines to come together, where your VOICE is just one of the many ways to be seen and heard.

Please come out and support this semesters last show on APRIL 5th. Thank you.
