New York City Blogging from UESM Alumnus Geoffrey Brock

Wednesday, Feb 23, 2011 @ 3:12 pm

Here are two blogs to check out that will keep you in the loop with New York City living by Urban Environmental Systems Management alumnus Geoffrey Brock ('10)!

In “Brock’s Blog” his life in New York City since 2006 is chronicled with musings and plenty of photographs to back them up. For native and non-native New Yorker’s alike, it provides a playful and thought provoking viewpoint since he is not shy about ‘telling it like it is’. Among other things, through reading about his life experiences you can get suggestions about at home gardening (both dos and don’ts), catch a glimpse of the recent Green Build conference, and have a visual reminder of missed opportunities in storm water management via rooftop (hopefully soon to be utilized)!

Additionally, in “Press On: Brock’s Bike Blog” Geoffrey pinpoints the conflicts, latest innovations, and successes of the biking world in New York City. Be sure to catch parts 1, 2, and 3 of his Bike-umentary (also posted on his blog December 16, 2010).  His passion and dedication in the ever expanding cycling world is exhibited in this documentary, the culmination of his UESM capstone project.  The history and current challenges and triumphs of bicycling in New York City are presented from multiple perspectives, along with plenty of footage taken as he bikes around the city. Anyone who readily hops on a bike in New York City, would like to, or may be skeptical is sure to enjoy and learn from checking out Press On and Bike-umentary!
