Garden Gadgets Workshop
Wednesday, Sep 26, 2012 @ 1:13 pm

This Monday marked the first of a series of six public workshops led by the GI Community Outreach Program to promote innovation, technology and the arts. This workshop, entitled Garden Gadgets, was led by David Cuartielles, an interaction designer living in Sweden, and Evren Uzer, a faculty member within the Urban Environmental Systems Management Program at Pratt Institute. The goal of this week’s workshop was to acquaint students with being comfortable using programmable technological devices to monitor and represent data in green areas. It is with this same technology that students hope to monitor temperature, humidity, and soil quality on our very own, soon-to-be-built, North Hall green roof (a project associated with Pratt’s recently acquired Green Infrastructure grant). Additionally, Pratt is excited to be participating in this year’s World Maker Fair, where Evren Uzer will be presenting the outcomes of the Garden Gadgets Workshop as well as plans for future workshops in the series.
A booklet will be designed to accompany each workshop; check out the Garden Gadgets booklet here!
