David Krause attended Pratt Institute where he began his studies perusing a degree in painting. After realizing his passion for the applied arts, he later switch his focus to fashion design. While at Pratt he started his first women's label, The Twentyten, with two of his peers. His label found success in progressive boutiques in New York and LA and the fashion press. Upon graduating from Pratt, David was accepted in to the Pratt Design Incubator for Sustainable Innovation where his passion for local manufacturing and sustainable production was nurtured. In the fall of 2011, after closing the doors of The Twentyten, David and his design partner Nina Zilka, created the menswear label Alder New York, as well as a successful line of natural apothecary goods sold at retailers like Anthropologie and high-end salons like F.S.C Barber. Over the years David’s work has been featured and reviewed by publications such as WWD, Surface, Time Out New York, Daily Candy, Elle, Essences, and many others. David has played an important role helping the 2013 seniors develop their collections, the best of which will be shown at our annual runway presentation at Center548 on April 25.
