Pratt Center for Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS) will offer a 10 percent discount to Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce members beginning summer session 2008. CCPS offers courses at Pratt’s Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses on a range of topics including architecture, engineering, art, design, facilities and environmental compliance, computer graphics, and photography.

Pratt Manhattan Gallery will present “Manufactured Surfaces: Three Pratt Institute Sponsored Research Studios for Sustainable Architecture and Design,” from May 19-30, 2008. The exhibition features full-scale prototypes, material demonstrations, and project proposals of three sponsored studios from Designtex, Hunter Douglas, and VELUX that took place within Pratt’s Undergraduate Architecture Department and Interior Design Department. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public. The reception coincides with the closing day of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, which runs from May 17–20.

Pratt Institute will present “Breaking In,” a panel of five Pratt alumni discussing how they are making their mark on the design world, led by Julie Taraska, a contributor to Interior Design, at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at St. Ann’s Warehouse on 38 Water Street in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn. The event is part of the sixth annual BKLYN DESIGNS™ show presented by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and featuring designers and manufacturers of contemporary furnishings.

Pratt Institute will present degrees to approximately 1,000 bachelor's and master's degree candidates during its 119th Commencement at 10 a.m. on May 9 on The Grand Mall of the Brooklyn campus. The Institute also will award honorary degrees to architect Zaha Hadid, dancer/choreographer Judith Jamison, and arts administrator Thomas J. Cahill, who will deliver Pratt’s Commencement address at approximately 11 a.m. It will also honor 2008-2009 Distinguished Teacher Floyd Hughes, adjunct associate professor, Communications Design.

Pratt Institute will present 2008 Pratt Show, an annual juried exhibition of exceptional design work by 300 of Pratt’s graduating students from May 6 - 8 at The Manhattan Center, located at 311 West 34th Street. The show is free and open to the public and will be open on Tuesday, May 6 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesday, May 7 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m; and Thursday, May 8 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Approval Policy
All technology purchases, whether for Academic or Administrative use must be submitted to the division of Information Technology (IT) for review and approval.
The purpose of the policy is to ensure that all purchases are compatible with other Institute software and equipment and meet pre-established minimum hardware configuration, quality and security requirements.

Mission of the TAC
To provide advice and recommendations to the Vice President of Information Technology and CIO in support of the Division of Information Technology’s Strategic Plan.
To advise the Division of Information Technology regarding the development of IT initiatives and ongoing maintenance and enhancements of technology infrastructure, which are designed to deliver efficient and effective centralized information technology services to the multiple constituencies of Pratt Institute.
To function as the entity of the Institute community that reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations about information technology services issues to the Vice President of Information Technology & CIO in support of the Strategic Plan.

The IT Division is comprised of three departments: Academic Computing, Enterprise Systems and the Web Group. While each of the departments has a distinct set of roles at Pratt Institute, the team members of each department work in a highly cooperative manner. This cross-departmental meshing ensures a well integrated structure yielding the most benefit from the resources available.

Laptop Program
As part of our effort to remain at the forefront of design and technology Pratt Institute has implemented mandatory laptop programs for several departments. Please click program requirements for a listing of all departments involved in the mandatory laptop programs.
- Program Requirements
Academic Computing handles the following areas of responsibility: the computer labs, the laptop program, Internet and network services, the office of the Educational Technologist, and the Technology Services group which provides helpdesk and other support activities. Academic Computing also assists in the acquisition of technology as outlined in the Technology Approval Policy.
Enterprise Systems is responsible for the Colleague student information system, as well as other databases which house additional student data such as the CBORD (PrattCard) system and related services. This group is also responsible for supporting all aspects of reporting, particularly with assisting with self-service reporting using the Informer and Crystal reporting tools.
The Web Group oversees the Pratt Institute website for external constituencies as well as other assets which comprise the Pratt webspace such as the my.pratt.edu portal. The Web Groups works to ensure that the design and style of all web assets provide a consistent user experience for both internal and external audiences.

Be advised that leave balances listed on mypratt.edu may not reflect recent usages of paid leave or leave accrual.
Balances are accurate as of the last day of the prior month provided that time sheets have been submitted. Delayed submission of timesheets may result in inaccurate time and leave balances.
After logging into my.pratt.edu, go to the Employee menu option to view your information.

Your email user name and password (issued at the
time of admission or hire) are now your OneKey, granting access to Advisement, Registration and Billing Tools, Instant Enrollment, Email, Employee Time and Leave Information, and the Learning Management System.
If your Email password is not your preferred password, you can change it by accessing the password
change service at http://changepw.pratt.edu.

Online Advisement
Advisement is the process of selecting courses to complete your degree. Pratt prides itself on its long history of providing a high-level of academic advisement. The online advisement tool enables students to communicate with their advisors and faculty via the Web to choose, select, and prepare course works to successfully complete their academic program.

The online registration tool enables students to view course details and register for that course both on and off campus.

Center for Continuing and Professional Studies
The mission of the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS) is to develop and promote quality services in the areas of education,workforce/professional development, and training for non-traditional learners in artistic, management, and technical fields. The Center provides excellent educational opportunities for students to achieve their professional and personal goals.

Learning Management System
A Learning Management System (LMS) enables the Pratt Faculty to management and deliver course content and resources to students via the web. Web based delivery enables "anytime, anywhere" access to course and collaboration. Pratt has chosen Moodle as its LMS platform. The Moodle software package enables internet-based courses allowing the traditional classroom to extend onto the Web. The design and development of Moodle is guided by a particular philosophy of learning, often referenced as "social constructionist.” With a loose translation, social constructionist is learning based on the building of ideas through ones experiences, and the social sharing through dialogue or text allowing for the advancement and retention of knowledge.

Portal
A portal is an application that provides users a home on Pratt’s Intranet. When users log in to a portal, they are identified with a particular constituent group such as staff or student. The web page they see contains content and tools specifically designed to meet their needs. Users are able to customize, personalize and adapt the portal in whatever ways are useful to them. Coming Fall 2007.
View/Pay My Tuition Bill Online
Students are able to view tuition bills and make payments online using the “Make a Payment” and “My Tuition Bill” options. Both features are available 24/7 and reflect the most current activity on student accounts.
