The certificate program in Computer Graphics is designed to provide graphic and fine artists with the skills necessary to utilize the computer as a graphics tool, enabling them to incorporate computer graphics technology into their work. The curriculum includes terminology, software instruction, conceptual development, and hands-on experience.
Students work on state-of-the-art equipment using the latest software. The Certificate provides a firm grounding in the basic elements of this fast-moving field, and an opportunity to use, learn, and understand some of the different types of specialized equipment that exist in today's electronic design offices. Through collaboration with leading hardware and software vendors involved with computer graphics, the Center for Continuing and Professional Studies offers its students the latest in Computer Graphics Education.
Pratt's commitment to professional education and commercial applicability is stressed in course planning, faculty selection and state-of-the-art equipment. Pratt's approach consists of a foundation designed to teach computer literacy, the basic terminology and operating concepts of these machines and finally, a personalized course of study tailored to the specific educational goals and career needs of different types of students. This method combines theoretical and practical knowledge that is essential to effective education in this field. Students may take these courses on an individual basis or as part of the certificate.
I consider my participation in Pratt’s certificate program in Computer Graphics to be the start of my professional career. The program was an excellent bridge between my undergraduate generalized fine arts program and my concentrated, focused M.F.A. curriculum. Classes were taught in modern labs on state-of-the-art computers with all the latest software packages. The certificate program not only taught software skills, but also professional methodologies, techniques, and practices. The classes were small, highly interactive, and led by practitioners in the field. The certificate program was a most rewarding experience.

According to Project Management Institute (PMI), project management is a booming profession and the demand for skilled project managers grows and grows.
Few fields of endeavor offer the excitement, challenge, diversity, sense of accomplishment and excellent income potential as project management.
If you like working with people, honing your communications skills, having hands-on involvement, managing projects from start to finish, you will be genuinely excited about the opportunities awaiting you in project management.
Since the dawn of time, people have been planning and managing projects. Whenever and wherever civilizations took root, there were projects to manage, buildings to erect, roads to pave, laws to write. Without the advanced tools, techniques and methodologies we have today, people created project timelines, located materials and resources, and weighed the risks involved. These early ideas were the precursors to a set of management techniques we now know as “modern project management.”
The discipline of project management plays a key role in the competitive, global business arena. Savvy customers demand more and better products and faster services.
Time-to-market pressures force greater efficiency. More than ever, organizations need individuals and teams with solid project management knowledge and skills. The advantages are many – not the least of which is a more attractive bottom line! Pratt Institute’s Center for Continuing and Professional Studies is proud to introduce a five-course certificate program on project management. Project management is a distinct professional discipline, having its own body of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques. It involves managing a project from inception to completion and the successful attainment of the project objectives.
The knowledge/skills acquired from this program are applicable to a broad range of industries and organizations including: art, design, construction and product development; in short, the skills are applicable to moving a building or to planning the Olympics. These industries have been quick to adopt project management positions.
In this program you will learn how to:
This program is designed for skilled managers who want to build solid skills, and newcomers who are looking for a career-enchancement opportunity.
The newcomer to this occupation who wants to acquire the basic knowledge and skills required of a project manager and, to have an opportunity to become skillful in the application of that knowledge through practice on real-world simulated projects.
And, for one with some experience in project management who wants to enhance and formalize that experience by qualifying as a candidate for certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). These courses can be used to satisfy the 35-hour and 23-hour education requirements, respectively.
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
To receive Pratt’s certificate in Project Management, students must satisfactorily complete five courses in the order listed. Students may take courses individually or as part of the certificate program provided they can satisfy the prerequisite for the course they wish to take.

“Fred Iusi was hands down one of the best professors that I've ever had. Fred's ability to teach was really quite outstanding. He always used simple yet powerful examples to help us grasp the material. He always answered our questions and he consistently used language that made me feel like his colleague rather than student. Fred inspired me to hold myself to a higher standard." Michael Fedorak, Pratt Certificate Student, Fall 2006
