Pratt Faculty Member and Physicist Calculates the Sound of a Fireball of Subatomic Particles

New Scientist Magazine recently featured the work of math and science department faculty member and physicist Ágnes Mócsy, who helped to calculate the sound that may have pervaded the universe just after the big bang. The sound, an eerie drone, is the result of a fireball of small particles called quarks and gluons whose temperature reaches trillions of degrees.
