Meet With A Counselor

Admissions counselors are available to meet with prospective students from April 1st through December 1st at Pratt's Brooklyn campus, in most states in the US and in several  countries to provide information on Pratt's programs, application requirements, and to provide feedback on students' portfolios. We encourage all applicants to meet with one of our admissions counselors to receive some preliminary feedback and instruction before submitting a final portfolio, although this preliminary review is by no means required. A list of counselors by territory is available to download below.  Admissions counselors are all artists themselves; many have undergraduate and/or graduate degrees from Pratt, and they are interested in helping students to develop the strongest portfolio possible for application submission.

Schedule your appointment as early as possible in the application process for an appointment on the Brooklyn campus or on the road by calling 718-636-3779 or emailing visit@pratt.edu with your preferred appointment date and time, your name and phone number.  Campus appointments are offered daily Monday through Friday; campus tours are offered as well two times a day every day with an additional tour mid-day.

Pratt Visits You
From September through January, admissions counselors are available to meet with prospective freshmen and transfer students in many areas of the country.  Off-campus interview sessions are for undergraduate applicants looking for feedback on their visual portfolios or to discuss Pratt and its programs with a counselor.
Please read Pratt's portfolio requirements before you schedule your visit so that you can present as complete a portfolio as possible. Appointments with counselors must be scheduled in advance. Each session lasts one half hour; please arrive ten minutes before your appointment. It is best to bring original artwork. If you have time-based work or digital work to show, please bring your laptop.

National Portfolio Days
Another way to have your work reviewed is to attend one of the National Portfolio Days in your area. While Pratt does not attend all of them, Pratt does attend most. Appointments are not necessary to attend a National Portfolio Day event. Portfolio reviews are for feedback and guidance only. They do not constitute a formal official review for admission. Pratt requires that you submit your portfolio either online through SlideRoom or by mail as per the the listed requirements.

Please download our Portfolio Review Form, print, complete it and bring it with you if you are having a portfolio review with a Pratt representative.

The 2013 Off-Campus Advisement Schedule below is also available to download for your convenience.

These meetings are open to both prospective and accepted students.  If you have any questions, please contact the visit coordinator at visit@pratt.edu or 718.636.3779.

When planning to have your portfolio reviewed, bring no more than 15-20 original pieces of your most recent work in 2 or 3 dimensional formats as well as sketchbook material, if you have it.
Appointments are scheduled for incoming freshman and transfer applicants interested in the School of Art and Design.
Please note:  We do not provide portfolio reviews for graduate students or applicants interested in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
