My Financial Aid Award - The Parental Process

Your student can access his or her financial aid award online.  Complete instructions are found here.  He or she should have received an email after acceptance to Pratt with instructions on how to access the package.  If he/she did not, it may be in their spam filter.  It is still possible to access it by following the instructions at the link above.

After all the financial aid is subtracted from the cost, the balance may be handled by applying for a Direct PLUS Loan. Below are instructions.

Welcome to the Pratt Institute Financial Aid Process for Direct PLUS borrowers.

All students accepting their Stafford and PLUS loans must complete go to Studentloans.gov and complete BOTH a pre-approval and a PLUS MPN.

Step 1 - (New Borrowers) Complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note. In order to complete this step, you must also have the PIN number that you used to file your FAFSA. If you do not have your PIN number, please obtain your FAFSA PIN here.

If you are borrowing from the Federal Direct PLUS program, you must also complete a Federal Direct PLUS Master Promissory Note.  *Please review your financial aid package for the type(s) of loan(s) you are applying for.

Step 2 *For PLUS Borrowers ONLY* If your parent is applying for a PLUS loan, applicants are required to complete a credit check every time you borrow online at at https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action.  PLUS loans will not be processed without credit approval.  Please be sure to accurately input your information (name, address, SS#, date of birth, etc.) exactly as you did on your promissory note or the credit check and promissory note will not match which can cause lengthy delays in the processing of your loan and the receipt of funds.

Step 3 (ALL BORROWERS) Complete and return the Loan Confirmation Form via fax or mail. You can print the Loan Confirmation Form from the How to Apply for Financial Aid page and mail or fax it back to our office. Instructions are on the form.
