Technology Enhanced Classrooms
|
A TEC is a classroom that has been equipped with multimedia devices to aid in teaching and presenting material to the intended audience. There are currently 32 TEC on the Brooklyn Campus. There are many other technology equipped classrooms on campus however, TEC was developed in a partnership with the Office of the Provost and Information Technology and is supported by Academic Computing. The mission is to provide a consistent and reliable technology platform to meet the needs of today's faculty and learners. There are two models, a Lectern and Desk. Independent of the model, each TEC room is equipped with identical equipment. Learn to use one TEC and that is it. The rest are all the same. The set up includes an LCD projector, a DVD/VCR player, a dual-boot MAC running Windows or OSX, laptop connection with internet access, Document Camera and Apple connection for iPad, iPod or iPhone devices. All the inputs are controlled through a simple to navigate AMX touch panel. TrainingMuch attention has been given to making this equipment easy to use. However, we strongly recommend faculty to spend some time familiarizing themselves with the equipment before using it for a class.
