Biography

Amy Lucker is Library Director at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. Prior to coming to NYU she was Head of Technical Services and Slides & Digital Imaging at the Fine Arts Library of Harvard University . While at Harvard she became involved in issues surrounding moving image cataloging when the Fine Arts Library became administratively responsible for the Harvard Film Archive. Amy has also held positions in the libraries of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art and at the Avery Library of Columbia University. She holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, as well as an M.A. in Classics from the University of Wisconsin , Madison and a B.A. in Classics from Colby College. Throughout her career Amy has been involved in many professional organizations, including ARLIS/NA (Art Libraries Society of North America ) and VRA (Visual Resources Association). She currently co-chairs two committees for these organizations to implement and plan for the ARLIS/VRA Summer Educational Institutes; week-long workshops designed to provide a standardized and sustainable program for visual resources training, with a focus on issues related to digital collection management and item-level image metadata.
