Archives (within or post MSLIS)
This 12-credit Advanced Certificate in Archives can be taken as part of a student's MSLIS degree or as a post master's certificate for those holding an MLS from as ALA accredited program.
Designed to prepare students for careers in archives (both digital and physical) and related fields such as special collections, digital libraries, and records management, this course of study focuses on archival theory, practice, and research. Considered part of the broader field of Cultural Informatics, archives and digital archives have wide application in today's information landscape.
To receive the archives certificate, matriculated Pratt SILS students must complete the set of below courses. There is no application for the archives certificate; those who complete the course requirements will automatically receive the certificate. For those already holding an MLS, please visit the Pratt Graduate Admissions website to apply for the post MLS archives certificate, and complete the online application. The advanced certificate program will appear as an option, separate from the MLS program, under degree programs within the application.
