EducationB.A., Journalism (Media Criticism and Analysis), New York University BiographyJesse Karp is the Early Childhood and Interdivisional Librarian at LREI – Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School, an independent school in Manhattan. He holds an M.S. in Information Sciences from Pratt and lives in lower Manhattan with his family. His debut young adult novel, THOSE THAT WAKE, will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2011. He is currently writing the sequel, which is scheduled for publication in 2012.
Since 2005, he has been reviewing picture books and graphic novels and writing relatedarticles for Booklist, the official magazine of the American Library Association. He has also lectured on the history and analysis of graphic novels and their use in libraries and education at Pratt and Queens College, been a panelist at Book Expo America 2009 and 2010, and served on the American Library Association's Great Graphic Novels for Teens Award Committee from 2008 to 2012 and was then given a place on the Eisner Awards committee for 2012. |
