New York State requires that applicants for a real estate salesperson license must complete the 75-hour New York State Salesperson Course - RE-100. All applicants must also pass the state exam and have a sponsoring broker. To obtain a real estate broker license an applicant must be licensed as a salesperson for at least two years and complete the 45-hour New York State Broker Course - RE-101. Any salesperson who wishes to apply for a broker license but has only completed the 45-hour salesperson course is also required to complete the 30-hour New York State Supplementary Salesperson License Course - RE-100A. To meet New York State requirements you cannot miss more than 4.5 hours of class.
As of July 1, 2008, all licensed real estate salespeople and brokers are also required to complete 22.5 hours of continuing education courses every two years before renewing their license. The only exemptions are for attorneys who are also licensed real estate brokers and anyone who has been licensed as a broker continuously for at least 15 years (since May 1993). To receive credit for a course you cannot miss any classes.
The required textbook for RE-100 is Modern Real Estate Practice in New York-10th edition by Sam Irlander, Dearborn Publishing. The textbook for RE-101 is Modern Real Estate Practice in New York for Brokers-10th edition by Edith Lank, Dearborn Publishing. The textbook for RE-100A is 30-hour Remedial Course, 1st edition by Sam Irlander, Dearborn Publishing. All textbooks are available in the Pratt Institute bookstore, phone is (718-789-1105 ). Students should purchase the textbooks prior to the first day of class. Students should also bring a calculator to class.

RE-100A - 30-Hour Real Estate Supplementary Course
(This course is required for any person who took the old 45-hour salesperson license course and wishes to qualify for a broker license or anyone who completed the 45-hour salesperson course but did not obtain a real estate license prior to July 1, 2009).
Any licensed salesperson who has completed a 45-hour salesperson course prior to June 30, 2008 and wishes to qualify for a real estate broker license must successfully complete this course. Topics covered will include: Mortgage Brokerage, Mortgage Banker, Finance, License Law, Government Regulation, Real Estate Investments and more.

If you have a real estate salesperson or broker license New York State requires you to complete 22.5 hours of CE courses before your license expires.
The only exemption is for anyone who has had a real estate salesperson and broker license (you must have obtained a brokers license before the deadline date) for at least 15 years prior to July 1, 2008.
The following courses qualify for the 22.5-hour NYS DOS real estate continuing education requirements.
To get credit you cannot miss any sessions.
Please bring your real estate license to the first day of class.
RE-200 - ADA and Fair Housing
As of July 1, 2008, this 3-hour course is now a mandatory requirement by the Department of State, and must be taken once every two years, to meet the 22.5-hour real estate continuing education requirement.
The class will cover Fair Housing regulations in New York. We will define and discuss federal, state and municipal laws that govern Fair Housing. Topics will include ADA regulations and HUD requirements.

RE-201 - Real Estate Foreclosures
Learn how the foreclosure process works. You will learn how to find foreclosure properties all across the country and how to profit from opportunities in the foreclosure market. The course will explain how to make offers that benefit all parties in the transaction, how to finance a purchase and how to be sure that you are getting a sensible deal. Learn how you may qualify to buy a house for half-price or even as low as $1.

Real Estate Sales
Congratulations! You qualified for your real estate license, now what? What do you say after you say Hello? Be prepared to succeed in real estate. This course will teach you how to qualify buyers and sellers, how to get listings, how to advertise a property, how to show property and how to close the sale. Training is the name of the game. RE-301 - Internet Applications for Real Estate
This class will reveal the best real estate web sites on the net. Everybody uses the Internet but if you want to know how to get the most accurate and current information and how to get almost all of it for free this course will show you how to do it. You will learn how to find property information, owner information, customer information, listings, foreclosures, financing, current real estate news, get free advertising and much more. This one-day class will make you an Internet real estate expert. 8 hours No exam.

NP-100 - Notary Public Exam Preparation
Be prepared to pass the New York State Notary Public Exam and get your Notary License. Topics include: Review of Notary Public license law, legal terminology, duties of a Notary Public and qualification requirements.
