Earn the Facility Management Professional (FMP®) Credential and Pratt Certificate
IFMA’s Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential will help to accelerate an FM's transition into the profession. By enrolling in Pratt’s IFMA FMP Credential Program courses, you will improve your knowledge, enhance your skills, and have access to everything you need to earn the FMP credential.
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
Application fee: $100, nonrefundable
The certificate requires the successful completion of all four courses, which totals 60 hours. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded by Pratt Institute.

Course Materials
The IFMA FMP Credential Program curriculum was developed by a team of global industry experts to teach the knowledge and skills demanded by today’s facility management employers, as defined by the most recent IFMA global job task analysis.
These materials include:

• Final FMP assessments
Not only will you enhance your FM knowledge and skills, and qualify for the FMP credential (upon successful completion of the final FMP assessments), the materials will serve as an ongoing reference of facility management practices. The course investment includes all course materials and FMP final assessments, but does not cover the FMP application fee.

Operations and Maintenance
The primary role of facility managers is to manage/oversee an operating facility. To do this, facility managers must have a working knowledge of building systems, structure, interiors and exteriors, and grounds so that the facility and all of its required systems function efficiently, reliably, safely, securely and in a manner consistent with existing regulations and standards. Effective operation and maintenance of facilities is a complex responsibility in today’s environment.
Topics include: Introduction to Operations and Maintenance; Assess Facility Needs; Manage/Oversee Operations and Maintenance of Building, Systems, and Equipment; Manage/Oversee Occupant Services; Select the Best Resources; and Measure and Optimize Operations and Maintenance Performance.

Project Management
Facility managers make use of all aspects of project management beginning with planning, to scoping, scheduling, and ending with evaluating. Project planning and management are core skills in facility management. The skills are particularly important because of the wide range of projects assigned to the facility organization. Projects vary in scope, complexity, duration, and financial risk.
Topics include: Introduction to Project Management; Define Projects; Plan Projects; Manage and Oversee Projects; and Close Projects.

Finance and Business Essentials
Facility managers manage/oversee high-value assets that represent significant financial investment in technology, buildings, structures, interiors, exteriors, and grounds. Since facility managers are typically responsible for the oversight, operation, and maintenance of the buildings and grounds, as well as oversight of various service contracts, understanding the basics of finance and business is critical.
Topics include: Finance and Business in the Facility Organization; Financial Management of the Facility Organization; Procurement in the Facility Organization; and Contracts in the Facility Organization.

Leadership and Strategy Essentials
To be effective, facility managers must develop strategies to successfully carry out major initiatives by influencing the decisions and attitudes of others. Effective strategies require that facility managers are able to integrate people, places, processes, and technology. They must be able to align the facility portfolio with the entire organization’s missions and available resources, and to be innovative in order to move forward with their staff and processes to respond to the ever-changing requirements.

Mary has over twenty years direct experience as a leader and manager of people, process and projects for the Real Estate division of SwissRe America, a service arm to the international reinsurance company SwissRe. During her tenure at SwissRe she instituted a strategic real estate planning process to align with the business plan of the organization and managed the effective delivery of ongoing service to all internal customers at the Headquarters as well as across the US. Most of her projects involved managing change. Mary managed all aspects of facility management including strategic facility planning, project management, design, construction, maintenance, lease administration, vendor management, furniture specification, space standard development, relocation feasibility analysis etc.
Since forming her consultancy, Mary has provided organizational development and training for various industries including retail, manufacturing, real estate, universities, professional associations and technology firms.
Mary earned her MBA in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Baruch College, CUNY, and a BS in Management and Communications from Adelphi University. She has been a guest lecturer at NYU on Personality and Change and at Hofstra University on Optimal Skills for Project Managers. Mary is an IFMA National Certified Instructor for the FMP and CFM programs and has successfully delivered both programs to the IFMA NYC Chapter.

Registration deadlines for all courses are one week prior to course start dates, unless otherwise noted. Exceptions will be allowed based on space availability. We recommend that you register early.
Policies & Requirements
Cancellation policy:
All continuing education courses are subject to minimum enrollment. When courses are withdrawn or cancelled by Pratt for any reason, students may transfer to another course or receive a full refund. Pratt Institute reserves the right to cancel any class for which there is insufficient enrollment and to withdraw or modify course offerings. Course locations, fees, and instructors may also be changed when necessary.
Program Requirements:
There are no prerequisites to enroll in this program.
FMP Credential Requirements: The IFMA FMP Credential Program materials include online FMP final assessments. To earn the FMP credential, you must pass each of the four FMP final assessments with a score of 75% or higher. Once completed, you must submit an FMP application (with fee) to IFMA to validate your credential.
