Associate Degrees (AOS & AAS)

Pratt's Associate Degree Programs are concise, comprehensive, and intensive 2-Year Art & Design Degree Programs which integrate the best of new media & technologies with a strong commitment to a traditional art & design curriculum. These programs include the career-track AOS Degree or the transfer-track AAS Degree (offering transfer-track to Pratt BFA).

Located at Pratt's Manhattan Campus on 14th St between 6th & 7th Ave, we accept applications in the Fall & Spring semesters. (see application info below)

AOS      GRAPHIC DESIGN    :    ILLUSTRATION    :    DIGITAL DESIGN/INTERACTIVE MEDIA

2 Year/4 Semesters (69 Credits): Students move quickly into upper level art & design classes taught by top professionals and student's develop a competitive portfolio and necessary skills to move directly into the field. This program offers great internship opportunities which leading to exciting and invaluable industry experience.                                                               

AAS      GRAPHIC DESIGN/ILLUSTRATION    :    PAINTING/DRAWING

2 Year/4 Semesters (69 Credits):Students follow an exciting art & design curriculum that includes a liberal arts component which positions student's to transfer to Pratt's BFA program(upon completion of the AAS Degree). Upon completion of the AAS Program students typically transfer to either the Pratt BFA in Communications Design or Fine Arts Department.

The Faculty for both the AOS and AAS Degree Programs comprises New York's leading professionals who bring to the studio practical professional experience and expertise reflecting the highest standards in their respective fields. The emphasis on the personal attention given each student defines a key difference between this and other programs. 

Our location in the cultural epicenter of Manhattan provides great access to the world's leading museums, galleries, design agencies & production companies. These local resources are a valuable extension of our campus and provide many exciting opportunities for field trips, guest speakers and internships.

Portfolio Guidelines: A Portfolio is 15-20 Pieces of work which reflect your range of artistic abilities. As a general rule of thumb, a portfolio is comprised of 50% 'Observation' and 50% 'Imagination'. Observational work includes drawing, painting, still life, figure drawing, landscape. The imaginative part of a portfolio includes any art & design projects that demonstrate your creative flair. The se projects might include graphic design work, web design work, sculpture, photography, collage, digital artwork).

If you do not currently have a portfolio, you have the option to complete a home test to demonstrate your skills.

Many of our students live at the dorm close to Pratt's Brooklyn Campus and commute easily to Manhattan. Student's may attend on either a full- or part-time basis. Financial aid is available to qualified students.
