Biography

Worked as a freelance contributor to The New York Times for many years as well as other regional and national publications and agencies. Exhibitions have include the Society of Illustrators, New York, and Society of Illustrators, Los Angeles. Included in Illustrators Who Teach, Society of Illustrators, NY, 1998 and 2002. Active in publishing, written or illustrated books for children. Mr. Bear’s Chair (Dutton Children’s Books) chosen in 1988 as one of the top ‘Children’s Choices’ by International Reading Council and Children’s Book Council, andDay Breaks, written by Bethea verDorn (Arcade), selected by the Society of Illustrators for inclusion in Originals: The Best of Children’s Book Illustration 1992. His latest is Five Little Firefighterspublished by Henry Holt & Co., 2008. Lectured extensively on children’s books, including the Children’s Book Writers conference at Pratt Institute and Uri Shulevitz’ workshop, Pine Lake, N.Y.
