As a copywriter for N.W. Ayer, Earl created “Be All You Can Be” for the US Army. It was recently voted the second greatest jingle of the Advertising Century by Advertising Age Magazine, and the 18th Greatest Campaign. Earl has won many awards for his work including two One Show Gold Pencils, and two One Show Silver Pencils. He’s been a Copywriter at CBS Records, Copywriter at CBS Broadcast (where he worked for the legendary Art Director, Lou Dorfsman), Copywriter at DDB Group Two, Senior Copywriter at N.W.Ayer, Senior Vice President Associate Creative Director at Scali McCabe Sloves, Copy Supervisor at Lowe & Partners, Co-Group Head at Ogilvy, London, Creative Group Head at Euro RSCG Ball Partnership, and Creative Group Head at AKQA Interactive, Singapore. He still works as a consultant. OVERVIEW FOR TEACHING: “To bring the student’s feelings and untapped talent into each advertising assignment so they can individualize each assignment and bring their own ‘look’ to their work. I try to get the students to put their ‘you’ into each assignment, which means not just using their eyes or mechanically solving an advertising problem, but first to give thought to how their own experience, knowledge, and creative instincts, can contribute to the assignment. My goal is to turn out a signature advertising graduate who will inspire confidence in industry creative directors, therefore easing the way for future graduates.” |
