Upon graduation from New York University, Chris Maiorino began his career as a coordinator at the famed One Club for Art and Copy in New York City. Then to BBDO, NY as a Writer/Art director where, in his first year he placed 3rd in The Cannes Young Creative Competition out of more than 8,000 entrants 30 years old and under. During that time ChrisÂ’s work was featured in the future section of One magazine which highlights the best up-and-coming young talent in the business. He finished up that year with work published in CMYK and a feature article in the Cannes edition of Creativity magazine. Thinking he might be onto something, Chris spent the next seven years at BBDO working on a wide variety of brands including Pepsi, eBay, HBO, GE, AOL, Doritos, Cingular, and more. There he received numerous distinctions including a D&AD silver nomination, Cannes, Andys, One Shows, Communication Arts, Archive magazine, Art Directors Club, Obies, AICP, Graphis, Print magazine, Young Guns Australia, London Internationals (including a Best In Show), Addys, FAB Awards, and New York Festivals.
His work has also been honored as a Boards magazine Â“Top Spot,Â” won Best In Show at The One ClubÂ’s inaugural Â“Cast your Vote Show,Â” appeared on Entertainment WeeklyÂ’s Â“The Must List,Â” been the subject of two New York Post Â“Exclusives,Â” was Â“Topic of The DayÂ” on Fox NetworkÂ’s Good Day New York morning show. His work has appeared on WPIX, ABC and New York 1Â’s morning news programs. Chris has also worked on a variety of projects for MTV Networks including a promotional spot for the MTV Movie Awards that starred Tom Cruise.
Currently, Chris is a Writer/Creative Director at JWT, NY working on, amongst other things, Smirnoff innovation and flavors. His efforts for Smirnoff Green Tea were the feature of a Dateline NBC segment on Internet advertising after his viral video Â“Green Tea PartayÂ” set the all-time record for most views in a single day on YouTube. The same video was #2 of the Top 5 Viral Video Advertisements of 2007 with over 3.5 million hits, as reported by the Financial Times and Campaign magazine. Chris is also the founder of treehouseÂ®, a freelance collective of web designers, film directors, designers, writers, bloggers, and communication specialists who work in unison to maximize communication efforts for new and existing brands.
