Biography

Jacob W. Lewis is a PhD candidate in the Department of Art History at
Northwestern University. He specializes in nineteenth-century French
photography and art, and is completing his dissertation on the role of
instantaneity and reproducibility in the photography of Charles Nègre
(1820–1880). He is a former Coleman Fellow in the Department of
Photographs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Blum/Model Fellow at
the National Gallery of Canada.
