Biography

Tina Rivers is a specialist in modern and contemporary art, film, and visual culture. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation on the Howard Wise Gallery and the rise of media art in New York City in the 1960s. Her work on the European avant-garde Group Zero is forthcoming in two books in 2013, and her work on British filmmaker Peter Whitehead appeared in Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media in 2011. She has presented her research in Canada, Germany, and around the United States, including the annual conference of the Modernist Studies Association. In addition to teaching courses at Columbia, Pratt, and the Museum of Modern Art, she also regularly lectures on art for adult audiences through One Day University.
