Education

Studied Fashion Design at Centro de Altos Estudios de la Moda (CEAM- Peru), a BSc in Social Psychology, an MSc in Educational Psychology and a PhD in Public Health from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH).

Biography

Fashion Designer and Social Scientist, Cuba has coordinated programs related to sustainability and development, worked as consultant in Public Health, and as a teacher of Psychology and Fashion Design. She has participated in projects for the development of arts and culture in Peru and Latin America, and in conferences, workshops, lectures and different activities that aim to advance the development of local emerging fashion systems.


Creator and coordinator of LUCCO, a design lab and PROJECT GAMARRA, an activist design initiative, Cuba has presented her work at the Iberoamerican Design Biennial (BID-DIMAD10-Madrid) and curated the exhibitions “Procesos Peruanos, Moda y Diseño” and “Rafia” (Lima, 2011). After being awarded with a Fulbright Scholarship in 2010, she graduated from the MFA “Fashion Design & Society” at Parsons The New School for Design, with the thesis “Articulo 6: Narratives of gender strength and politics”, a design and activism project based in the case of forced sterilizations that took place in Peru between 1996-2000. Her work was presented at Milk Studios during New York Fashion Week (09/2012), and is currently presented at the Iberoamerican Design Biennial (BID-DIMAD12-Madrid).


Cuba is currently an Artist in Residence at the Textile Arts Center.
