He has taught and lectured in South Korea and Turkey, writes speculative fiction, and enjoys pushing the limits of three-dimensional interactivity, player-mediated generative art, and artist-friendly microelectronics. Professor Mackey is in his thirteenth year of teaching interactive design and programming in the Department of Digital Arts, his eighth year on the full-time faculty. Prior to coming to Pratt full-time, Mackey had been writing and directing award-winning films, videos, multi-image, and multimedia programs for GE, Pepsi, Time-Warner, and others. He produced some of the first multimedia presentation materials ever used at Apple Computer. From 1992 to 2000, he was Senior Vice President & Director of Interactive Development for Imergy, a design firm he helped create, with offices in Connecticut and New York City. His projects there included live multi-media events, audio-visual exhibits, interactive installations, and CD-ROMs, including many groundbreaking consumer titles for Simon & Schuster Interactive. He has given presentations at the MacroMedia International User’s Conference in San Francisco, the Computer Game Developer’s conference in San Jose, and the Media Tools Conference in Sydney, Australia. His invited academic visits include his seminar “Interacting with Rich Media” at Hanseo University in South Korea, and his lecture/presentation “Interaction in Three Dimensions” at Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey.
