Biography

Ms. Burke directs Burke Design & Architecture PLLC, leading a group of talented architects and designers in a broad range of architecturally-based residential, hospitality, and commercial projects. She is a registered architect who has practiced in the field of interior design and architecture for over 35 years.

 Prior to starting her practice, Ms. Burke held leadership roles with a number of prominent architecture firms: With Cetra Ruddy, serving as Design Principal/Project Executive for high profile projects, such as the successful re-branding and launch of Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town; as  Director of Interiors for Gruzen Samton LLP, directing a variety of interior architecture projects, both as independent efforts as well as in support of GS architecture projects; and senior roles with other outstanding firms including HOK, Swanke Hayden Connell, and Tihany International.  She led KPF Interior Architects’ Singapore office, designing major interior spaces for the Headquarters of United Overseas Bank, designed by Kenzo Tange.  Thereafter, she set up her own Singapore practice, Burke Design, providing interior architecture services throughout Asia and Australia.

 Ms. Burke is Vice President for Design Excellence of the AIA New York Chapter, after a five-year stint as the Chair of the Chapter’s Interiors Committee.  She is a former Board Member of the NY Chapter of IIDA, and is the 2012 Chair of the Advisory Group for the Interior Architecture Knowledge Community of the AIA. She serves yearly as a juror in the Best of Neocon competition in Chicago, and is a frequent contributor to design publications. Ms. Burke is an Associate Professor in the Interior Design faculty at Pratt Institute, and is a frequent guest critic for Architecture programs at City College and Fordham University.
