Biography

Meri Bourgard’s artwork is included in public and private collections nationwide and in Europe and she has exhibited in galleries around the North East. In New York, she has shown at Artexpo, the Omni Gallery, Grayz, Catherine Lagot, First Street Gallery, The Dime Savings Bank Corporate Gallery and in galleries of Pratt Institute and St Johns University. Exhibitions in Vermont, include the Ice House of Burlington, the University of Vermont, the Francis Colburn Gallery and the Discovery Museum in Essex Junction.


She has received grants from the Vermont Council on the Arts and Pratt Institute’s Faculty Development Program. Her art has been reviewed in Arts & Antiques magazine, the New York Times, and numerous Vermont publications. 


At Pratt, Meri has been a faculty member since 1985, teaching Color in graduate Industrial, Interior, and Communications design departments and undergraduate Architecture. She has taught Light, Color & Design in Fashion, Foundation and AOS programs along with Painting, and Drawing, and at other institutions including St. John’s University, Vermont Governor’s Institute on the Arts, University of Vermont and Trinity College Elderhostel programs.


She has also coordinated Pratt’s Copenhagen Study Abroad Program with her husband Gus Rohrs, was Director of Pratt’s National Talent Search Scholarship Program and was a Counselor for the Admissions department.
