BiographyKaterina Romanenko specializes in 1920s and 1930s visual culture, photomontage, and popular mass media. She is currently completing her dissertation that focuses on Soviet popular illustrated magazines published in the 1930s. She is the recipient of the Students Research Grant (CUNY), PSC-CUNY -Adjunct Professional Development Grant, and Kristie A. Jayne Fellowship (CUNY). Her papers have been presented at numerous scholarly venues and published in the Design Issues and Zimmerli Art Journal. In 2011 she will be presenting at the College Art Association Conference. She has also coordinated a number of contemporary art exhibitions and currently collaborates with New York based artist Constantine Gedal on his artist-book project.
