Biography

Dr. Juliana Kreinik has taught the History of Photography at SUNY, New Paltz and Pace University. Her dissertation examined the clinical gaze of Neue Sachlichkeit painting and New Objectivity photography in Weimar Germany. She is currently the Managing Editor of Smarthistory.org, a free, multimedia web-book designed as a dynamic enhancement of the traditional art history textbook. Dr. Kreinik is also a Researcher for the Hans Hofmann Catalogue Raisonné Project. In addition to the history of photography, her interests include visual literacy, graphic design, and the intersecting histories of art and popular culture.
