Stephen Sollins work has been exhibited in more than 10 solo shows at Smack Mellon, Mitchell-Innes and Nash, and Mills College Art Museum, among others, as well as in group shows at galleries and museums including the Brooklyn Museum, The Drawing Center, and The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art. His work is part of public and private collections including The Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and others.  He is a recipient of awards and fellowships from New York Foundation for the Arts, MacDowell Colony, and Smack Mellon.

Stephen Sollins works primarily by altering found materials, applying various mediums and methods to direct a viewer’s attention.  Themes in his work center around the possibility of communication within the domestic arena.  He  sometimes describes this as “the space between people” or alternately as “lyrical non-communication and the poetry of silence”.
