Biography

Jenny Lee has exhibited extensively in galleries, arts organizations & museums. In fall 2002, she had a retrospective at the Hoboken (NJ) Historical Museum, sponsored by the NJ State Council for the Arts and the NJ Council for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Humanities. In 2001, her work was featured in the first-ever historical survey of 20th century welded sculpture, at the Neuberger Museum. Her work is in public venues such as the Brooklyn Museum, the Newark Museum and the Neuberger Museum of Art. Private collections include DeMenil and Borgenicht-Brandt.

Lee’s career has included developing, prototyping and fabricating custom exhaust headers & systems for the legendary Jaguar XJ-220 to make it compliant with United States emission standards, & to withstand rigorous thermo-shock tests. She has also played key roles in the construction of two major exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History. In the early 1990s, she was part of an elite team of paleontologists, scientists, artists & tradesmen, rearticulating fossil skeletons to conform to evolving, new discoveries in those fields. In the late 1990s, she oversaw aspects of the development & creation of the diorama of the Dzanga-Sangha rainforest of the Central African Republic in the Hall of Biodiversity. The diorama is the world’s largest interactive display. In addition to scientific & artistic replication & installation of flora and fauna, the diorama incorporates video, digital media & other electronic elements which impart real-time motion & vitality. She was co-currator of ArtBots International 2003, an international competition & exhibition of art-making robots (or their creators, depending on point of view).
