BA from Barnard College in 2003 (Art History/Visual Art)
MFA in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in 2011

Biography

Emily Weiner is a painter and a writer based in New York City.  She is faculty at the School of Visual Arts, in the Visual and Critical Studies Department, where she teaches Art History and studio courses in contemporary painting. She has been a workshop leader at Dia: Beacon, a guest instructor at Barnard College, Columbia University, and a guest lecturer at Cooper Union’s Summer Outreach program. She was an artist-in-resident at The Banff Centre in Canada (2012) and Camac Art Center in France (2011), where she has also exhibited her work. Most recently in 2013, she has shown work at Kravetz Wehby gallery in Chelsea, A.I.R. gallery in Brooklyn, and Grizzly Grizzly in Philadelphia. Her essays and criticism are published internationally in artforum.comDomus (Italy),ArtSlantTime Out New YorkRES Art World/World Art (Turkey), ARTnewsThe Santiago Times (Chile), and The Visual Arts Journal, among other publications. She runs an exhibition series in Brooklyn Heights called The Willows (www.thewillowsnyc.com).
