EducationM.F.A., Columbia University, 2009 BiographyRona Yefman was born in Israel and lives and works in New York City. In 2009 she received her M.F.A from Columbia University. She has a Bachelor's degree in photography, video and digital media and has completed her post graduate studies from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. Yefman recent solo exhibitions at, Sommer Gallery, TLV (2012), Derek Eller Gallery, New York (2011-12), The Sculpture Center, New York (2011) and at Participant, Inc., New York (2010-11). Yefman has been included in many shows; at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, WI, USA, La Mep Museum, Paris, The Jewish Museum, N.Y, Ronald Feldman Gallery, N.Y, Kunsthalle Wien, Austria, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, MoCA Cleveland, OH, Museum Marco, Vigo, Spain, Annie Wharton Los Angeles, Lombard fried project, N.Y, and in a site specific project curated by Shamim Monin for the 2010 Miami Art Basel. Her work will be on view this coming year at the Weatherspoon Museum, N.C and at the Addison Gallery of American Art, M.A. Yefman won the Rema Hort Mann Scholarship, N.Y, The Lotos Club Award, N.Y, Grants from Artis, The Camera Club of New York and Smack Mellon Studio residency, BK, N.Y. She is the recipient of The Ingeborg Bachmann Scholarship established by Anselm Kiefer and awarded by the Wolf Foundation, Gerard Levy Prize awarded by the Israel Museum, An experimental film Grant from the New Israeli Foundation for Cinema & T.V for, Israel, the New Creation award and the Young Artist Prize from the Ministry of Education & Culture in Israel. Her work has been featured in Art Forum (2012 and 2009), Art in America (2012), Modern Painters (2011, 2012), The New York Times (2011, 2010, 2008), New York time Magazine, Bomb Magazine (2011), and Frieze (2009). Yefman currently is a visiting assistant professor at the Graduate program, of Partt Institute, School of Art & Design, Brooklyn, N.Y, and teaching an Advanced Photography and Video seminar at the Camera Club of New York. |
