Biography

Nicholas Koutsomitis is an architect and educator with over 30 years experience. He is a graduate of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture where he has been an adjunct associate professor since 1986. He is a registered architect in NY, NJ, Conn. and Washington DC. He is an active member of the the American Institute of Architects, where he has served on the Board of Directors of the NYC Chapter, the American Association of Museums, and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

Nicholas P. Koutsomitis AIA Nicholas Koutsomitis is an architect and educator with over 30 years experience in the planning of museum and cultural institutions. He has been involved in numerous master plans for new museums as well as plans for the future growth of established institutions. Clients have included the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, The Queens Museum of Art, The City Museum of Washington DC, the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, the Hechal Shlomo Museum of Jewish Art and Heritage in Jerusalem, the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation and many others. Koutsomitis Architects PC is the recepient of numerous awards, most recently two Lucy Moses Preservation Awards for the restoration of the Washington Square Arch and the Hendrick I. Lott Historic House in Brooklyn. He is a graduate of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture where he is an adjunct associate professor since 1986 and has taught courses in professional practice and contract documents. He has served on the Peer Review Committee for several years and as itÂ’s Chair from 2003-2005. He has also chaired the National Career Day Event of the National Institute for Architectural Education from 1986 to 1994. An active member of the the American Institute of Architects, he has served on the Board of Directors of the NYC Chapter, is a member of the American Association of Museums,serves on the board of directors of the National Museum of Catholic Art and History and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He is a registered architect in NY, NJ, Conn. and Washington DC. He has recently served as the AIA representative on NAAB accreditation visits.
