Biography

Nicholas Agneta achieved Licensure with the New York State in 1986. Since then he has worked as Architect and Construction Manager in the NYC metropolitan area. In 1991, he added teaching to his weekly agenda and has taught at New York University and New York Institute of Technology. Currently he is teaching Professional Practice and is IDP Coordinator at Pratt. Research, Scholarship and Professional Activities: AIAS Faculty Advisor AIA Queens Committee on Ethics 2003 Secretary Resume 1990 2009 2006-persent Nelligan White Architects – As Technical Director for Nelligan White Architects, Mr. Agneta is involved in the execution of virtually all projects. Onsite, he is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction documents and construction administration. In the office, his work is a critical element in the firm’s quality control program as well as the education of fellow Nelligan White architects. Nelligan White Architects performed masonry restoration for New York City Schools. Many of which have historic significance. 2002 to 2006– Private Practice Nicholas Agneta Architect. – Private Practice. The focus of the practice was to design and manage the restoration of exterior restoration of building with historic character. We had a small client base with many pre war multi residential masonry buildings. Our standard of care was extended to the detailing and specialty of replacement of defective ornamental stone. We performed many public hearing with the City of New York Landmarks Preservation Commission and planning boards on Long Island. Additionally, we were grateful to receive the commissions for building on Fire Island NY for three wood frame houses, a new structure for the Bocce Beach Restaurant, and performed a planning study for a new ferry terminal for the Village of Ocean Beach. The highlight for us was the collaboration with Barry Silberstang Architect and Barry Berger Industrial designer for a 911 Memorial for Suffolk County NY which we won first place. 1996 to 2002– Project Manager. Paris Construction Management Inc. – A small and diverse Construction Management and Architectural, which specialized in masonry and façade restoration. The client base is building management firms that handle multiple buildings around the New York Metropolitan area. Services included LL 11 inspections and reports, building wide conditions reports, production of drawings and specifications, value-engineering, selection of consultants, hiring subcontractors, scheduling and coordination of trades, ordering of materials, selection of finishes with Owner, sketches for field modifications. Projects types include parapet reconstruction, steel refurbishment, balcony replacement, window replacement and bulkhead reconstruction. Special Services were provided for the design and fabrication of ornamental cast stone and GFRC as consultants to fabricators and architects. 1996-1998 – Construction Manager Fabmac Realty – Fabmac Realty is a property owner with a construction department. I represented Paris Construction Management for the adaptive reuse conversion of turn the century “Astoria Silk Works” into an Art and Business Incubator Center. The project included gut renovation of four 5000 SF floors. All floors received new construction, electric service, windows, bathrooms, and air conditioning. The central heat plant was maintained building wide. The floors consisted of Music Recording and Rehearsal Studios; A sound stage for a photography and video facility, Business Incubator Rental Spaces and Art Lofts. 1992-1996 Project Manager. Ebro Restoration Corp. Masonry and Waterproofing Subcontractor Project Manager Scope of work for all projects consisted of masonry reconstruction, cast stone installation, structural steel refurbishing, roof membrane installations, waterproofing, cast in place concrete and parapet reconstruction. Duties included cost estimating, preparation of payment requisition, interface with Clients, hiring sub-subcontractors, ordering materials, submittals, meeting minutes, site supervision and office management. Projects include: Promenade Apts. Bronx, NY, Exterior Masonry Reconstruction of a Hi Rise Tower; Masonic Temple Facade Reconstruction. Exterior Masonry Reconstruction, Structural Steel replacement. NYU Medical Center. Masonry Parapet Reconstruction; Nassau County Medical Center Prison Hospice. Interior CMU walls for prison cells/ hospital. 1990-1992 Project Representative Hoffmann Architects-. Facade restoration of four hi-rise office towers in Lower Manhattan consisting of masonry reconstruction, cast stone installation, structural steel refurbishing, new roof installation and waterproofing, limestone replacement, marble replacement, refurbishing and painting cast iron facade, and new masonry bulkheads. Duties included preparation of weekly minutes, conducting weekly job coordination meetings, field inspections, negotiating change orders, all correspondences, shop drawing review, expediting field changes with base office and consultants, and payment requisition approvals. Additionally, I acted as Construction Manager with the owner on this project. Mobile News Center- A news research audio/ video facility within the corporate offices for Mobil Oil, Fairfax, VA. Our specialty facility was coordinated within a master plan prepared by HOK Architects Pilate Davis Architects Maxims Health Club- A new Health Club and Spa with in a Four Story penthouse of the Peninsular Hotel, Fifth Ave., NY, NY. The space included a four story Grand Atrium. All the club facilities could be accessed from the Atrium’s Curved Stair. The finishes consisted of mahogany millwork, etched glass and marble, as well as conventional GWB and carpet. Special design consideration was given to the recessed lighting and hidden HVAC grills with-in the vaulted ceilings. Worldwide Residential Lobbies- New Entrance Lobbies for Mid-Rise and Hi-rise Luxury Apartments located on 49th-50th Street. NY, NY. The finishes consisted of granite flooring with carpet inlay, cherry millwork walls, back-lit etched glass, vaulted ceilings with concealed indirect lighting and HVAC grills. 1986 Registered Architect w/ NYS Apprentice Walter Brown Architect The Marcus House was an extraordinary modern home for a retired couple in Westchester NY. We designed this building and completed working drawings. The client abandoned the project due to excessive bid pricing. The design created for Walter Brown for Alice Lawrence developed this home several years later. The Lawrence Residence. Full time field representative. I knew all the details from the first design of the building type. Our plan was to have me control all construction for this house, and all future similar designs
