EducationM. Arch. BiographyFrederic Levrat is a Swiss citizen working and teaching in New York city. Professor of Architecture at Columbia University GSAPP and at Pratt Institute since 1994, Levrat produces a “research oriented architecture”, questioning the philosophy and the technological conditions of our current environment, specifically the relationship between our virtual, visual and physical environments. Frederic Levrat has set up his architectural office ArX New York in 1994, and two subsidiaries in 1997 ArX Geneve in Switzerland, and in 2004 ArX Kabul in Afghanistan. Levrat has designed and build a research center for the European Space Agency in Geneva, twelve Primary Schools and twenty Basic Clinics in Afghanistan, a theater and an industrial park in Kabul, and a masterplan for 45 houses in Oman. In New York City Levrat has built apartments, numerous exhibitions design and a high end showroom. Over the last few years, Levrat has been designing projects in Dubai through his professional practice as well as his academic research studio. Since 2007, Levrat has designed five 30 stories towers with his office and three extremely large multi-towers complexes of 35, 50 and 120 stories, within his academic studio. ArX stand for the intersection between Art and Architecture, and the projects developed are the constitution of environments at the convergence of both disciplines. |
